Project Connection: As-Built and Project File Management for Autodesk Vault
Hagerman Project Connection is a Vault app for utilities and process manufacturers, such as steel, chemicals, food, and pharma, that manage plant as-builts in Autodesk Vault. Engineering works on project copies of as-built files. Operations and maintenance keep using the current as-builts until the project is handed over.

How Project Connection Works
Project Connection command user interface in Vault
Project Connection separates the as-builts that maintenance uses from the copies engineering is changing. Each change happens in a project, and the as-built is updated only when the project is handed over.
Keep As-Builts Current While Projects Are in Progress
Authorized users assign one or more as-built files to a project folder in Vault. Only users assigned to that project can see the project copies. Operations and maintenance staff keep working from the current as-builts during short- or long-term design projects.
Hand Over Projects Automatically
When a project is complete, Project Connection commands handle the handover. They update the original as-builts from the project copies automatically.
Support Concurrent Engineering in Vault
The same as-built file can be assigned to several projects at the same time. Managers and users can see every current and past project an as-built has been assigned to. Project Connection blocks new as-builts from being created from outdated project copies.
Works with Standard Vault Features
Project Connection uses Vault's own tools, so users don't learn a separate system.
- Vault features: check-in/out, categories, lifecycles, revision schemes, and security
- CAD references: full support for AutoCAD XRefs and other CAD file relationships
- Naming: adds filename prefixes and suffixes to project copies automatically
- Bulk copies: create linked project copies of many as-builts at once
- Where Used tab: Vault's standard Where Used tab shows every current and past project copy of an as-built and the status of each
With Vault’s standard “Where Used” tab, users can view or go to any of the current and past linked project copies associated with an as-built and see the status of each file.
