What is Autodesk Vault Professional?
Autodesk Vault Professional is Autodesk's most complete PDM software. Like every Vault edition, it stores CAD and engineering files in one secure vault with check-in/check-out and version history. Vault Professional adds the processes manufacturers need to control designs through production: release management, revisions, engineering change orders, item and BOM management, multisite support, and integrations with ERP and Fusion Manage.
It works with Autodesk design tools such as Inventor and AutoCAD, along with other CAD systems, and runs on a Vault Server your company hosts, with desktop, browser, and mobile access.

What Vault Professional Adds Over Vault Basic
Vault Basic gives CAD users version control, search, and file reuse. Vault Professional builds on that with:
Release and revision management
Track revisions, release management, and revision history to finalize and lock designs for production, preventing unauthorized changes. Automatic part numbering and data classification (e.g., prototyping, production) keep data organized throughout the design process.
Engineering change orders and BOMs
Automate Engineering Change Orders (ECO), revision management, and Bill of Materials (BOM) and item management. Batch plotting, sheet set management, duplicate search, and the advanced Copy Design Wizard streamline project delivery.
Permissions and access for everyone
Set and tailor user permissions for viewing and editing data. Non-CAD users can access files, including view-only web access through the Thin Client, supporting broader collaboration.
Collaboration and integration
Integrate with Microsoft Office, Autodesk Fusion, Fusion Manage (PLM), and Autodesk Shared Views, and connect to ERP with Vault Data APIs. Multisite functionality synchronizes design data across distributed teams.
Compliance and reporting
Manage compliance documentation, enforce engineering data standards, and customize lifecycle states for process standardization. Project reporting tracks KPIs, giving managers real-time status insights.
Security, backup, and recovery
Incremental backup utilities minimize downtime. Data archiving and the trash bin support data recovery and growth management.
