Autodesk has terminated development of Autodesk® Mechanical Desktop® and will no longer release new versions of the product. This decision was made to allow Autodesk to focus on the development of the Autodesk® Inventor™ and AutoCAD® Mechanical product lines. As a result of this decision, Mechanical Desktop 2009 becomes the last version of the product
to be made available.

What will happen to my drawings?

Can I migrate my MDT data?

How will I manage two sets of data?

Join us for a one-hour webcast which will explain how the retirement of Autodesk Mechanical Desktop software will affect you. Learn how the tools inside Autodesk Inventor simplify the migration of Autodesk Mechanical Desktop data sets.

Here’s the good news:

  • If you are an existing Mechanical Desktop 6 or newer user, you already have the software as part of  the Autodesk Inventor Suite!

  • You will be able to reuse Mechanical Desktop models and drawings as parts, assemblies, and drawings in Autodesk Inventor while maintaining their original design, constraints, and drawing relationships.

  • Migration functionality supports automatic drawing view creation and recognizes model-to-drawing associativity, including annotations, scenes, and unit settings.

  • By using the latest version of Inventor software, your company will benefit from an industry leading 3D design tool for Digital Prototyping with the ease of use characteristics pioneered by Mechanical Desktop.
