This webcast will demonstrate how the new rendering
technologies, workflows, and animation features in Autodesk®
3ds Max®
Design can help you create higher quality visualizations and
effects.
Autodesk 3ds Max
Benefits
New rendering technologies
-
Exposure™ daylight simulation and
analysis technology has been designed to assist architects
in evaluating light intensity—a useful tool for analyzing
indoor environmental quality for requirements such as LEED
8.1 certification. In addition to light-metering
functionality, with various graphical outputs, this feature
set includes the popular sun and sky models and a new
quick-settings dashboard interface.
-
The Reveal™ rendering toolset gives the
user precise control over what is rendered: be it their
entire scene minus a specific object, one given object, or a
specific region of the Viewport and the Framebuffer. This
toolset supports iterative workflows and lets artists get
their final rendered imagery faster.
-
The new ProMaterials™ library simulates
manufacturer-related building and design materials. It gives
designers fast access to the accurate, visual information
clients demand.
-
Photometric lighting enhancements include
support for new types of area lights, photometric web
previews in the Browse dialog box and Light UI, as well as
improved near-field photometry quality and spot
distribution.
More support for interapplication
workflows
-
The new FBX®-based Recognize™ scene
loading technology enables 3ds Max users to quickly and
accurately import geometry, lights, materials, and cameras
from Revit 2009 scenes.
-
A new, on-screen, interactive ViewCube™
navigation widget gives design and visualization
professionals a fast and intuitive means of navigating 3D
scenes—one that is consistent across Autodesk’s 3D products,
including AutoCAD, Inventor, Autodesk® Maya®, and Revit
software.
-
A new SteeringWheels™ camera interface
gives users a simple-to-use camera interface, common to
several of Autodesk’s 3D products. This feature was designed
to create a comfortable transition from navigating in 2D
software to navigating in a 3D environment.
-
Higher OBJ translation fidelity and more
export options facilitate exporting/ importing files from/to
Autodesk® Mudbox™ software and other modeling applications.
New mapping and animation workflow
features
-
New UV texture features include a UV
spline mapping tool, and enhanced Pelt and Relax toolsets
that streamline the UVW unwrap workflow.
-
Biped now offers animators a more
efficient workflow for rigging quadrupeds—along with other
features that streamline the character animation process.
-
Animators can now rotate Biped objects
around the Working Pivot as well as the Pick
Pivot—facilitating the creation of certain kinds of dramatic
animations, for example, a character falling to the ground.
