Automatically attach property set definitions to architectural objects to complete quantity takeoff calculations more easily.
Attach existing property set definitions to newly created objects and their styles, and easily attach new or modified property set definitions to existing objects.
Command line search | MEP systems and styles
The Autodesk® AutoCAD® command line search feature has been extended to include MEP system names and selected styles.
Typing a portion of a name will list only systems or styles that have it in the name. Selecting the system or style name will launch the Add command, helping you add existing systems and styles to your drawing more quickly.
Project information file backup
This feature eliminates the time-consuming chore of rebuilding a project file that has been corrupted.
The project information file backup feature provides a backup copy of the up-to-date Project Information file (*.apj), which can be restored if the main copy is corrupted.
Annotation and unit scaling
When drawing units are changed, object tags, text, and other annotation scaled objects now have the expected appearance relative to other objects.
In addition, many AutoCAD settings, such as linetype scale, are now properly modified when units are changed. When units are changed, you have the option to rescale model and paperspace objects, rescale only modelspace objects, or do not rescale any existing objects.
Display order by layer
Set an order for layers in a list, and apply the display order for objects on each layer.
Preview changes to the display order before they are applied to ensure that changes are predictable. Control the way architectural and MEP systems are displayed on construction documents.
Set to layer zero
Change the layer of all drawing entities to layer zero in one click. Clean up drawings with objects on unused layers by moving them to layer zero.
Easily edit your components as your design changes. Block instances can now be assigned a different definition, without re-creating the block.
Enhanced Content Builder navigation Avoid having to navigate in Content Builder to find the right content to edit. Open the Content Builder directly to the selected object.
Enhanced layer standards
Comply with NCS 5.0 more easily with a new layer standard and layer key styles that generates the correct names—without modifying layer names manually.
Use point cloud data on MEP projects from within AutoCAD MEP software. Bring your 3D scans to life and use point cloud data for renovation, retrofit, and restoration projects.
Visualize the points more quickly and snap to the surface of your scanned objects directly within your modeling workspace. Use point cloud data to create existing building conditions for use in MEP project design.
Dynamic input for dimensions
Use dynamic input when adding wires, plumbing lines, pipes, ducts, conduits, cable trays, or schematic lines.
Dynamic input provides you with the same "heads-up display" control you have with AutoCAD and Autodesk® AutoCAD® Architecture objects. Stay focused on the design as the typed command is shown at the cursor.
AutoCAD MEP object snaps
Toggle AutoCAD MEP object snaps independently of AutoCAD object snaps.
Use the shortcut (Shift+F3) to toggle the AutoCAD MEP object snaps. AutoCAD object snaps continue to use the F3 function button. AutoCAD MEP snaps connect MEP objects to other objects, maintaining the integrity and connectivity of the system. For example, you can use pipe snaps to connect a pipe, fitting, or MvPart directly to a pipe end connector at the end of a pipe segment.

Enhanced documentation features help you to create, rationalize, and document 2D views.
Create 3D models in AutoCAD MEP design software and convert to 2D for documentation needs. Utilize improvements in the command line with the ability to auto-complete and differentiate commands and system variables. Improve the appearance of your documentation with access to a diverse palette of fonts and colors. Improve drafting and modeling productivity with associative arrays improvements.
Integrated content search
Quickly search for and access design files, objects, and content from within AutoCAD MEP design software with the Autodesk® AutoCAD® Content Explorer.
Easily search local and network drives for files containing content and objects to use within the design environment. This allows for more consistent company and industry standards, as well as real-world content.
Convert AutoCAD blocks and symbols
Individually convert or batch-convert single or multiple Autodesk® AutoCAD® blocks, MvBlocks, or MvParts to a device or schematic symbol.
Extrude standard 2D blocks to create a 3D solid, and then add connectors to create AutoCAD MEP content for your mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) designs. In addition, convert your AutoCAD blocks to orthographic symbols, as well as isometric symbols to facilitate your schematic design documentation.
Project navigator—drawing management
Manage project drawings more easily by creating coordinated views based on MEP design parameters.
Create and manage project drawing sheet sets for all MEP construction documents. MEP design team members can access a centralized project directory of the most current documents, from project templates to sections and elevations.
Pipe content and routing preferences
Routing preferences inside the application can be used with sloped piping and male x female routing.
These routing preferences take advantage of specific piping content created for AutoCAD MEP. Routing preferences support the use of male x female fittings to create more realistic pipe designs.
AutoCAD and AutoCAD Architecture support
Work on flat 2D Autodesk® AutoCAD® floor plans or Autodesk® AutoCAD® Architecture geometric model architectural floor plans with AutoCAD MEP.
Reference architectural floor plans developed in AutoCAD-based software for better design and documentation coordination with MEP system designs created in AutoCAD MEP software. Use the referenced architectural floor plans to design, tag, annotate, and create construction documentation of MEP system design.
Spaces and zones
Assign engineering spaces from existing 2D architectural floor plans or AutoCAD Architecture geometric designs.
Calculate room measurements automatically, including square footage, meters, and volumes per area. Space and zone information is used when exporting to gbXML for import into Autodesk® Green Building Studio® web service and/or third-party analysis programs.
IFC data support
