The EdgeCAM Productivity Toolbox is a
suite of support utilities including excellent toolpath simulation, a
unique wizard approach to post processing, a comprehensive tooling
database, intuitive and flexible machine tool communications and a web
enabled job management system.
Shop Floor Data Management
The EdgeCAM Job Manager allows the user to store and share information
relating to each job as it progresses through production. Information
including: NC file, tooling list, graphical illustrations of machine
tool set up, job status and customer details, all presented in HTML
format to enable posting on internet or intranet pages. The use of
standard browser technology allows Job Manager to be used through the
organisation without a limit to the number of users.
Tooling Database
EdgeCAM's ToolStore is an
easy-to-use tooling database providing storage for all your tooling
requirements. Tools can be added, removed, edited and finally selected
for use within EdgeCAM.
Form tools and holder graphics can be created in EdgeCAM and assigned to
tools stored in the ToolStore. The tool and holder graphics can then be
displayed during tool simulation and can be used to check for collisions
between the tools and holders against the work piece and or fixtures.
The ToolStore is the foundation upon which the
Job Manager, Toolkit Assistant, and Technology Assistant are built and
all applications are tightly integrated to ensure ease of use and
connectivity within an EdgeCAM worksession.
It is seamlessly integrated with EdgeCAM,
however it can also be used as a standalone application allowing the
database to be populated independently of EdgeCAM.
Single or multiple ToolStore databases can be
developed depending on your requirements. Access the ToolStore databases
can be on a copy per PC basis or via a single copy in a controlled
location on your network.
Post Processing
The EdgeCAM Code Wizard creates
instant code generators, using a simple Microsoft Windows™ style Wizard,
which eliminates post processor problems typically found with other CAM
systems. Code Wizard contains templates for all the common CNC systems
and is logically sectioned into questions to quickly and painlessly
guide you through the creation of code generators.
Using a simple Windows based process, EdgeCAM
Code Wizard creates instant code generators that allow NC code to be
produced. EdgeCAM Code Wizard contains templates for common CNC systems
and is logically sectioned into questions and prompts designed to
quickly and easily guide the operator through the creation of code
generators.

Machine Tool Communications
EdgeCAM Comms Wizard greatly simplifies communications between the PC
and machine tool by automatically detecting the "hand shaking" protocol
and setting the parameters accordingly. Online help includes the cabling
configurations for the most popular controls. An additional option,
Remote Communicating, allows the machine operator to send and receive
from the Control without leaving the shop floor.
Automation and Customization
When machining a family of parts, it
is often more convenient to produce a standard model and to input
dimensional details for a spreadsheet or a list of variables. EdgeCAM is
capable of importing data directly from a spreadsheet or variable list
and use this data to make instant changes to the model and the machining
strategy.
EdgeCAM macro language can offer
increased productivity:
- Contains all
standard logical functions
- Macro file
can drive EdgeCAM automatically and unmanned
- Easy to
learn, no specialist knowledge is required
- Users can
define their own machining operations and dialogs and them them to
the standard user interface
Macro Language - PCI
- Enables you
to build your own knowledge base
- Macro based
language
- Automates
repetitive tasks
- Grouping of
standard routines
- Create by
recording actions
Toolpath Simulation
Toolpaths can be verified off-line
with EdgeCAM Simulator, reducing the possibility of costly tool, machine
or part damage through visual toolpath simulation
EdgeCAM Simulator is a state-of-the-art tool
that simulates and verifies machining operations.
The tool, tool holder, stock and fixtures are
all included in the simulation. The simulation gives a realistic
representation of the machining process, allowing the user to prove out
programs off-line and move into production faster.
