Autodesk Navisworks 2010 Overview Brochure

The Autodesk Navisworks 2010 software family consist of four separate software products: Autodesk® Navisworks® Review 2010 software provides basic model aggregation; Autodesk® Navisworks® Simulate 2010 software includes Navisworks Review and adds 4D scheduling & photorealistic visualization capabilities; Autodesk® Navisworks® Manage 2010 software includes all and also adds clash detection functionality, helping to enable smoother real-time visualization of all types of models, more precise replication of designs and more accurate simulation of 4D construction schedules to help keep all project stakeholders on the same digital page, whether they are creating, viewing or reviewing 3D project models. Autodesk® Navisworks® Freedom 2010 is a free* viewer for files in Autodesk Navisworks NWD format, which gives project stakeholders better access to whole-project views.
Navisworks software helps enable design, engineering and building professionals to unite project contributions into a single, synchronized building information model. By helping enable team members to more reliably share, combine, review and perfect detailed 3D design models of any size or format, Autodesk Navisworks solutions are at the core of the BIM & Plant design workflows.
What’s New?
Enhanced Usability
Improved Workflow Functionality
Updated and Enhanced Interoperability
Screenshots
Clash Transparent Dimming – Construction predictability can be gained by
using Navisworks to analyze the project model to ensure the various
components fit together. Using the Clash Detective module you can look
for hard clashes between various disciplines and systems and check for
relevant clearances, such as insulation thicknesses. There have been a
number of enhancements to the Clash Detective tool in the 2010 Autodesk
Manage product.
Texture with Mask – The Navisworks Presenter tool delivered in Simulate
& Manage 2010 is a quick and easy to use visualization solution,
particularly for working with existing design date combined into a
single whole project view.
Presenter now supports PNG files, including transparency—also known as an Alpha channel. This allows you to create semitransparent image files and then use them to build your own materials. In this screenshot, an image file of a tree with a transparent background has been used to create a material. That is then applied to a number of billboards in the model scene. As the image background is transparent, you can see through the background and when rendered, the lights only cast a shadow of the [visible] trees, and not the [transparent] background.
Measure As Redline – New measurement tools for all FY10 Navisworks
project review products [i.e. Review, simulate & Manage] make it easier
to take accurate measurements including finding the minimum distance
between two objects, or two groups of objects, regardless of object
complexity. Having taken a measurement, it can now be converted into a
redline and saved with a viewpoint.
Multiple measurements can be stored in this way on the same viewpoint.
This could be used to provide necessary dimensions for the positioning
of a piece of equipment, for example, which could help reduce the need
for plotted paper drawings.
